Building densely and tall is most likely inevitable in the future. But how tall ? And how dense ? And how to do this without jeopardizing the image of the city, while enabling the citizens to experience a city at eye level, as well as from afar? The risks of inconsiderate tall development can be taller than the gains!
We joined HPP Architekten GmbH Frankfurt to think this important topic through at the Karlsruhe Landratsamt competition. We had a great collaborative process with the intelligent people of the Frankfurt office, and we're looking forward to repeating it !
Our findings - a terraced, low height podium; a main open plaza at the foot of the tower: a compact and efficient tower silhouette- are all themes that we will keep developing: a single vertical block will not cut it anymote!
